    Efficacious Instruction

According to the district, the term efficacious indicates an instructional practice that contributes best to teaching for learning. In other words, the instructional practice makes a difference.

The framework names five domains for strengthening instructional practices: developing teacher clarity; building democratic relationships; designing for invested cognition (engagement); gathering and responding to feedback; and developing expert learners. Each domain is described with teacher and student actions that demonstrate efficacious insruction. Furthermore, non-examples are cited to further illustrate what is required for efficacy.
